Our Story
Some brands are built in a boardroom. Brisa Foods was built at a dish sink, at a farmers market table, and in the back of a family kitchen — one lesson at a time.
It started with a nine-year-old
Sean Bruce got his start in the food business at nine years old. By night he washed dishes; by day he was a salesman, working farmers markets, food shows, and trade shows alongside his family. As he grew, so did his role — packing product into containers, labeling lids, boxing orders, and measuring out ingredients by hand.
Today we'd call a kid like that a young entrepreneur. Back then, it was just another day. And Sean loved every minute of it. He was a constant student of the game, learning from everyone and everything around him.
Learning the game from every angle
At fifteen, Sean made a decision that would shape everything to come: he left the family business to learn from great entrepreneurs across other industries. He interned for CEOs in different fields, gathering the perspectives, problem-solving instincts, and business fundamentals that no single company could have taught him.
His goal never wavered — he would return to food one day, but only when the timing was right.
At eighteen, he went to work for the owner of an apparel company in New York City. There he learned brand development from the inside, discovering firsthand what it takes to build a brand for major U.S. retailers and get product off the shelf and into customers' hands. From there he moved into tech, where he came to understand how modern businesses use technology to sharpen and scale everything they do.
Eighteen years in the making
The creation of Brisa Foods was eighteen years in the making. When the timing finally made sense, Sean stepped back into the food world — this time with a network, a set of hard-won skills, and his family's hummus recipes as his foundation.
What he built is more than a brand. Brisa Foods also operates a dedicated division focused on food service and private label solutions for grocery chains, brands, and restaurants — bringing that same craftsmanship to partners who want to put great product on their own shelves and menus.
Born of the Miami breeze
Brisa was born in Miami, Florida. The name — brisa, Spanish for “breeze” — reflects the Biscayne Bay wind that swept over Sean the moment he first tasted an early sample of the product. That breeze became the brand.
From a dish sink to a division serving some of the country's best retailers and restaurants, Brisa Foods carries the same spirit Sean had at nine years old: love the work, learn from everyone, and never stop building.
